RE: Proposed Agenda Items for SNC-NRC Communications Meeting 1/27 Cheryl and Amy, At the conclusion of the January 27 NRC-SNC Communications meeting, I agreed to follow-up on a couple of questions raised during the meeting. Below is the initial feedback I can offer.
ATF LTA LAR for Vogtle - The audit date was extended because the RAI responses arrived on January 20 and are under review. If the audit closed on January 31, additional RAIs may have been needed, whereas some information may be better provided for viewing via the portal.
RCI and RAIs - It was suggested that NRC explore more opportunities to use RCIs rather than RAIs and that a good candidate may be steam generator reports. NRC will explore further use of RCIs, but on the point concerning SG reports, recent RAI responses indicate SG reports may not be the best example.
SNC Drop-in date - NRC confirmed that the latest request is for the drop-in to move to April 19, from April 18, and not April 11 as was suggested by SNC on January 27.
Hatch Reactor Vessel Stud LAR - The NRC review is ongoing. RAI responses were provided on January 20 and are under review. As such, the results are pre-decisional. NRC staff agrees to schedule a management call before final action is taken on the LAR request.
Next NRC-SNC Communications Meeting - After the January 27 meeting, SNC requested the next communications meeting to be in person in the morning before the RIC. NRC staff is evaluating schedules.

Cheryl and Amy, Below are the proposed items for consideration during our communications meeting at 1:00 p.m. on January 27.
Introductory Remarks Monthly NRC PM and SNC Meetings o Working well - pre-submittal meeting needs are being highlighted!
o NRC staff has 23 SNC licensing actions under review currently. The NRC staff is expecting another 7 SNC licensing actions in the 1st quarter of 2023.
o Vogtle 3 and 4 - update by Vic Hall First-of-a-kind and complex licensing actions o Vogtle ATF LTAs LAR - Audit Ongoing. ACRS briefing scheduled.
o Vogtle AST LAR - Complex - Awaiting SNC RAI Response - LHGR from 6.3 kw/ft to 7.4 kw/ft for all rods.
o Vogtle OLM LAR - Audit planned.
o Hatch Reactor Vessel Studs - RAI responses received.
Communications o Requests for Additional Information (RAIs) and Requests for Confirmation (RCIs) o Multiple interval relief requests - Vogtle approved, Farley pending - policy and legal issues o SNC drop-in meetings - April 18 need more insights on agenda and focus (Vogtle 3&4 as compared to operating units) - Visit with just the Chairman or the Chairman and other Commissioners Transitions to Likely or Recent Success o Vogtle 3 emergency amendment o Hatch TSTF-505 LAR - Completed in December 2022.
Please advise if other items need to be considered or modified.
