FYI - NRC Technical Paper re: Passive SMRs presented at IAEA Conference Date:
Thursday, December 8, 2022 1:10:00 PM Hi Justin -
The NRC staff asked that I pass on the following information to you -
The NRC staff recently developed a technical paper and presented it at an IAEA conference. It covers three phenomena that have become increasingly important for the passive SMR LWRs and a focus of the staffs review; (1) radiolytic gas generation and migration, (2) non-condensable gas effects, and (3) boric acid transport if used in the primary circuit to control reactivity. This paper is publicly available in ADAMS and may be useful.
