Dear Mirela Gavrilas:
The purpose of this letter is to request an additional six-month extension of the Interim Authority to Operate (IATO) for the Distributed Control System and Process Telecommunication System for the High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium Cascade at the American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio.
This system is currently operating under a U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) authorized JATO that is valid through March 31, 2023 (Reference 1 ), as conditioned.
This extension would allow for continued operations during NRC' s assessment and final issuance of an ongoing Authority To Operate the system in Piketon, Ohio.
