NRC Inspection Findings Energy Steel & Supply Company - 1 Nonconformance Failure to promptly identify and correct significant conditions adverse to quality to ensure that the cause of the condition is determined, and corrective action taken to preclude repetition (Criterion XVI).

Flowserve Limitorque - 3 Nonconformances Failure to review the suitability of application of equipment that are essential to the safety-related functions by subjecting design changes to design control measures commensurate with those applied to the original design (Criterion III).

Failure to ensure that applicable regulatory requirements, design bases, and other requirements, which are necessary to assure adequate quality, are suitably included or referenced in the documents for procurement of services (Criterion IV).

NRC Inspection Findings Reuter-Stokes Failure to establish identification and control measures to prevent the use of incorrect material in safety-related components (Criterion VIII)

Initially exited with no findings but re-exited based on further evaluation done by the vendor.

Use of the ILAC Alternative 6

Issues Identified with the implementation of Revision 1 of NEI 14-05A Some of these issues have been identified after the completion of NUPICs most recent audit.

Issues (these are considered minor but are documented in the inspection report):

Some of the conditions not adequately implemented (e.g., notification of conditions that could impact accreditation scope, on-site accreditation within the last 48 months)

Referencing the 2005 edition of ISO 17025 in POs

ASME recently approved the following Code change:

Statement from NCA-3127(a)(2), and tolerances/uncertainties, is being removed.

Proposed Update to Regulatory Guide (RG) 1.28 9

Proposed Revision 6 to RG 1.28 is currently known as Draft RG DG-1403.

Revision 6 to RG 1.28 will have 3 new conditions Use of Revision 1 to NEI 14-05A for the use of the ILAC alternative.

Subpart 2.2 - Etching not allowed on Ni alloys, weld areas, or sensitized areas of stainless steel.

Subpart 2.5 - NRC approval needed for superseded or canceled Codes & standards referenced.

DG-1403 is presently out for internal concurrence.

After concurrence is complete, DG-1403 will be issued for public comment.

Once public comments are reconciled, DG-1403 will go out for internal re-concurrence and eventually issued as Revision 6 to RG 1.28.

Commercial-Grade Dedication Inspections at Licensees 10 First 2 inspections started this week: Grand Gulf and Cooper (January 30).

Every site will have an inspection at some point during the next 4 years.

NRC resources will include 3 NRC inspectors, 2 weeks on-site (210 hours0.00243 days <br />0.0583 hours <br />3.472222e-4 weeks <br />7.9905e-5 months <br /> of direct inspection).

3rd public meeting took place last week, NRC staff is open having another public meeting and will consider any input received.

2nd Town Hall Meeting on Vendor Oversight 11 Allows NRCs QA staff to engage in an open dialogue with external stakeholders to discuss issues of importance and provide guidance and clarification on these issues.

Virtual town hall, free to register, and will consist of a few presentations by the NRC staff followed by one or two Q&A sessions focused on QA topics Tentatively scheduled for the Summer 2023 (every 2 years)
