SUMMARY
OF NOVEMBER 21, 2022, PRESUBMITTAL MEETING WITH FLORIDA POWER AND LIGHT ON ST. LUCIE LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST TO ADOPT 10 CFR 50.69, RISK-INFORMED CATEGORIZATION AND TREATMENT OF STRUCTURES, SYSTEMS, AND COMPONENTS (EPID NO. L-2022-LRM-0088)
On November 21, 2022, a virtual observation public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of Florida Power and Light (FPL, the licensee). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the proposed license amendment request (LAR) to adopt Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 50.69, Risk-Informed Categorization and Treatment of Structures, Systems, and Components for St. Lucie Plant, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 facilities.
The meeting notice and agenda, dated October 31, 2022, are available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML22304A052. A list of attendees is provided in the Enclosure.
The licensee presented information via slides during the meeting. The presentation material can be found in ADAMS (ML22311A533). During the meeting, the licensee provided an overview of their plans and purpose for the proposed LAR. NRC staff asked clarifying questions to ensure that certain aspects of the licensees proposed planned submittal was clearly understood. NRC staff also provided feedback to the licensee regarding review preference pertaining to technical detail and the overall quality of the application. The licensee indicated it plans to submit the LAR in December 2022.
