Dear Dir. Ferkile:

Enclosed is an application (XSNM3806/01), dated November 9, 2022, received by the U.S.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), from Thermo Fisher Scientific, requesting to amend export license XSNM3806. This license currently authorizes the export of 0.16 kilograms (kg) of uranium containing up to 0.15 kg of uranium-235, enriched to 94 WGT % maximum, to the Republic of Korea. The uranium will be contained in 37 fission chambers, each containing up to 8.0 grams of enriched uranium, for use in neutron flux monitoring systems at Kori 3-4, Shin Kori 3-6, Hanul 1-2, and Hanbit 1-2.

The purpose of the amendment is to: 1) Add Ultimate Foreign Consignee Central Nuclear Asco, Tarragona, Spain; 2) Extend the date of expiration from June 30, 2023, to December 31, 2023; and 3) Update the Name of Applicants Contact to Vincent Vega Hos.

Assurances from Spain that the material will be subject to all terms and conditions of the agreement for cooperation are required. Your assistance in obtaining the necessary assurances is requested.
