- 1. What are the known technical or regulatory issues with the current version of the Regulatory Guide (RG)?
RG 1.202 was issued in February 2005 (Revision 0) to provide guidance on a method that the NRC staff finds acceptable for use in preparing required decommissioning cost estimates. The intent of the preliminary estimate is to provide the NRC with an up-to-date estimate of decommissioning costs and identify major factors that would impact the cost of the decommissioning.
RG 1.202 was reviewed in 2012 and there were no issues identified. Also, no issues were identified since the 2012 periodic review of this RG.
- 2. What is the impact on internal and external stakeholders of not updating the RG for the known issues, in terms of anticipated numbers of licensing and inspection activities over the next several years?
There is no impact on licensing and inspection activities since there are no identified technical or regulatory issues.
- 3. What is an estimate of the level of effort needed to address identified issues in terms of full-time equivalent (FTE) and contractor resources?
There are no identified issues with the current RG. Therefore, there are no costs associated with the update of this RG.
