UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION In the Matter of Docket No. 11005986 PERMA-FIX NORTHWEST RICHLAND, INC. License No. XW019 (Export of Low-Level Radioactive Waste)
ORDER In 2018, the Washington State Department of Ecology submitted a hearing request on the export license application (XW019) filed with the NRC by Perma-Fix Northwest Richland, Inc. (Perma-Fix).1 Perma-Fix sought NRC approval for the return of Mexican-origin radioactive waste after processing and treatment at facilities in Washington and Tennessee.2 On September 16, 2022, Perma-Fix requested to withdraw export license application XW019, and on September 26, 2022, the NRC staff acknowledged this withdrawal and returned the application to Perma-Fix without action.3 Because the export license application that is the subject of the hearing request is no longer pending, I deny the hearing request as moot and terminate this proceeding.
