Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for Proposed Renewal of NRC License SNM-2500 Date:
Tuesday, November 15, 2022 7:51:30 AM Mr. Khayyat, Mr. Horn, Mr. Kath, and Mr. LeCrone:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has completed its Environmental Assessment (EA) for the GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy Americas, LLC, Morris Operation Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation license renewal request. The NRC staff has concluded that approval of the proposed license renewal for a period of 20 years would not significantly affect the quality of the human environment. Accordingly, an environmental impact statement is not required and a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) is appropriate.
The EA and associated FONSI are available in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at ML22270A269 and you can access the file directly at https://www.nrc.gov/docs/ML2227/ML22270A269.pdf. This information will be published in the Federal Register on or about November 17, 2022.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations 2.390 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this email, as well as other documents related to this action, are available electronically in the NRC Public Document Room (https://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/pdr.html) and in ADAMS (http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html).
