SUMMARY

OF AUGUST 10, 2022, CLOSED TECHNOLOGY UPDATE MEETING WITH GE HITACHI NUCLEAR ENERGY AMERICAS, GLOBAL NUCLEAR FUEL, AND THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION (EPID L-2022-NTM-0003)

On August 10, 2022, a hybrid closed meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff and representatives from GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy Americas (GEH) and Global Nuclear Fuel (GNF) virtually and in-person attendance in Wilmington, NC, to discuss proprietary information regarding GEH and GNF fuel performance and future plans. The meeting was noticed on July 14, 2021, and the meeting notice with agenda is available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) under Accession No. ML22195A075.

In the morning portion of the meeting the GEH and GNF representatives provided updates on the control blade inspection, fuel performance, and accident tolerant fuel program including a presentation on the proposed approach to fuel fragmentation, relocation, and dispersal.

Additionally, the GNF representatives provided updates on the increased enrichment (LEU+)

and higher burnup.

During the afternoon portion of the meeting the GEH and GNF representatives provided updates on ARMOR 1.5/2.0, LANCR downstream methods plan, channels annual report, PRIME 7-year update and LEU+, the BWR-X300 technology, and licensing activities and plans.
