Dear Andrew Mayock:
On behalf of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), I am submitting to you the agencys Climate Action Plan as described in section 211 of Executive Order (EO) 14008, Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad (enclosed). The NRCs response to section 211 sets forth steps that the agency has already taken and will take to reduce energy consumption, water consumption, and fossil fuel emissions, and outlines the agencys financial risks (per EO 14030 subsection 5(d) Climate Action Plan) with regard to its own facilities and operations, as opposed to the facilities owned and operated by its licensees. The NRC is committed to maintaining awareness of the state of climate change science and to applying lessons to agency operations as appropriate and applicable.
