Proposed Changes in Amendment 10 HI-STORM FW Extended Version Higher thermal heat load Thermal Topical Report incorporation Shielding MOE topical report incorporation www.holtec.com l Page 2

HI-STORM FW Extended Version New version of the HI-STORM FW Overpack which is designed to minimize the necessary land to store spent fuel Stores the same MPCs as existing HI-STORM FW license No new transfer cask needed Only change is to the overpack The design life of the HI-STORM FW extended configuration is 60 years, which the same as the standard HI-STORM FW system.

Application for 20 year license www.holtec.com l Page 3

HI-STORM FW Extended Version Structural analyses follow the same methodologies and acceptance criteria previously used in the HI-STORM FW system System is bolted to the ISFSI Pad Shielding analysis follows the same methodologies previously used with specific modeling considerations related to the overpack design Thermal analysis uses the same model and acceptance criteria as current FSAR Heat load patterns are identical to current CoC No change in analysis needed for loading since HI-TRAC, MPC, and patterns remain the same www.holtec.com l Page 4

Higher Thermal Heat Load Patterns New heat load patterns will be introduced for MPC-37 and MPC-89 The total heat load is approximately in the range of 60-62 kW The maximum heat load per storage cell in the range of 4.5-5.0 kW for MPC-37 and 1.7-2.2 kW for MPC-89 www.holtec.com l Page 5

Incorporation of Thermal Topical Report Thermal topical report (TR) provides flexibility in heat load patterns The thermal topical report methodology will be incorporated into the CoC and FSAR www.holtec.com l Page 6

Shielding MOE Topical Report Incorporation Working on resolving the outstanding questions from public meeting The methodology outlined in that topical report is important to make the thermal approach useful Holtec plans on incorporating that topical report into this amendment Schedules appear that the topical report could be approved well before this HI-STORM FW amendment www.holtec.com l Page 7

Schedule After this meeting, will incorporate any NRC feedback Planned submittal for January 2023 Will request a standard 2 year review period www.holtec.com l Page 8
