Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2 - Acceptance of Alternative RV-11 related to Code Case OMN-28, Valve Position Verification (EPID:
L-2022-LLR-0020), dated March 9, 2022 (ML22068A006)
On February 17, 2022, Constellation Energy Generation, LLC (CEG) submitted a request for approval of seven proposed relief requests associated with the Sixth 10-Year Inservice Testing (IST) Program Interval for Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station (QCNPS). Relief Request RV-11, "Adopt ASME OM Code Case OMN-28, 'Alternative Valve Position Verification Approach to Satisfy ISTC-3700 for Valves Not Susceptible to Stem-Disk Separation'," was included in Reference 1. The October 27, 2022, publication of the Federal Register (Reference 2) contained the final rule updating the list of approved OM Code Cases. Effective November 28, 2022, Code Case OMN-28, referenced as the basis for relief request RV-11, is an approved OM Code Case. As a result, CEG has decided to withdraw the proposed relief request and is no longer seeking NRC review and approval of RV-11, which had been accepted for review on March 9, 2022 (Reference 3).
October 31, 2022 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Page 2 This withdrawal applies only to relief request RV-11. CEG requests that the NRC continue to review of the remaining relief requests included in Reference 1.
There are no regulatory commitments contained within this letter. Should you have any questions concerning this letter, please contact Ms. Rebecca L. Steinman at 630-657-2831.
