Dear Mirela Gavrilas:
The purpose of this letter is to request an additional six-month extension of the Interim Authority to Operate (IA TO) for security plan SEC-18-0002, American Centrifuge Operating, LLC (ACO) -
Cyber System Security Plan (SSP) (EPID: L-2019-PMP-0 196). This system is currently operating under a U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) authorized IATO that is valid through November 1, 2022 (Reference 1 ), as conditioned.
On March 31, 2022 (Reference 2) NRC approved the consolidated security plan SEC-18-0002, Information System Security Plan (ISSP) for Oak Ridge, TN; Piketon, OH; and Bethesda, MD. This security plan committed to transitioning from National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-53, Revision 3, Recommended Security Controls for Federal Information Systems and Organizations, to Revision 5, Security and Privacy Controls for Information Systems and Organizations. It is anticipated that during the October 2022 annual information security inspection, the system will be assessed to Revision 5 of the NIST Special Publication 800-53 standards. This extension would allow for continued operations during NRC's assessment and final issuance of an ongoing Authority To Operate the system in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
