OF AUGUST 3, 2022, MEETING WITH NIOWAVE, INC.

On August 3, 2022, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a virtual Microsoft Teams preapplication meeting with Niowave, Inc. (Niowave). Niowave had requested this topical Observation Meeting to discuss the structural and geotechnical aspects of the proposed Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), Part 70 application for a medical isotope facility it plans to apply for and construct in Lansing, Michigan. The first session of the meeting was open to the public while the second session was closed to the public for discussion of proprietary information. The meeting notice and agenda, dated July 21, 2022, is available in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML22202A473. Niowaves presentations (slides) for the open (public) session (ML22214A142) and closed (non-public) session (ML22214A151) are also in ADAMS. The list of attendees and summaries of the open and closed sessions are enclosed. Prior to the meeting, the NRC provided Niowave documentation (ML22203A115) addressing the applicable requirements and guidance the NRC staff would use to review the structural and geotechnical aspects of Niowaves anticipated application.
