This is an Observation Meeting. This is a meeting in which attendees will have an opportunity to observe the NRC performing its regulatory function or discussing regulatory issues. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of the NRC staff or make comments about the issues discussed following the business portion of the meeting; however, the NRC is not actively soliciting comments towards regulatory decisions at this meeting.
Purpose:
The purpose of this meeting is to gather insights from Southern Nuclear Company on lessons learned from construction oversight of Vogtle 3 and 4. The meeting will include a presentation by NRC to provide background and discuss potential focus areas, followed by a presentation by Southern Nuclear Company. During the meeting, NRC staff will engage directly with participants to solicit feedback on best practices and areas for improvement. Subsequent meetings will be held to solicit additional feedback and discuss the results of the initiative.

The purpose of this meeting is for NRC staff to meet directly with individuals to receive comments on construction oversight of Vogtle to identify best practices and areas for improvement in NRC programs and policies. In August 2021, staff announced the start of the initiative and presented the schedule for collecting stakeholder comments and providing a public report summarizing the results. Staff looks to collect feedback in the general areas listed on the agenda.
The staff will use these comments to inform a summary report on lessons learned from construction oversight. Participants may submit written comments prior to the meeting or provide verbal comments during the meeting.
