P R O C E E D I N G S CHAIRMAN HENDRIE:

Let us please convene.

Somebody said they left me my schedule and they (Mr. Gossick hands the Chairman a copy of the schedule.)

CHAIRMAN HENDRIE:

That's what I want.

The first item before the Commission is, yesterday afternoon you all ran out on me before I got a ch~nce to take a vote.

May I have your agreement to withhold the tape of yesterday afternoon's closed meeting?

COMMISSIONER KENNEDY:

Aye.

COMMISSIONER BRADFORD:

What did we have a closed meeting on?

CHAIRMAN HENDRIE:

Personnel matters.

COMMISSIONER BRADFORD:

In fact, I guess I left long before the end of it.

Aye.

COMMISSIONER GILINSKY:

Aye.

CHAIRMAN HENDRIE:

Okay.

Secondly, we have an affirmation item from this morning.

Sam will lead us in the reading of the affirmation.

You have got 30 seconds, Sam.

MR. CHILK:

Okay, this is a memorandum from the General Counsel to the SECY on expansion of the SECY's authority to grant*extension of times.

It recommends that 2

we amend our rules to let the SECY rule on procedural matters and they :I_ist,, three:

Extend the time* for the Commissio to rule on a petition for review; extending time for the Commission to grant review on its own motion; and extendirig the time for Commission review of its own motion of a Director's denial, with the understanding that this will be exercised in accordance with the general policies 6£ the Commission and that normally the SECY would not act except ab;:the}1.:1::equest and recommendation of the General Counsel and in accordance with the wishes of the Commission.

All four of you have voted for approval of that, and I ask you to affirm.

CHAIRMAN HENDRIE: Those in favor.

(A chorus of Ayes.)

CHAIRMAN HENDRIE:

So ordered.*

By the way, does the language in there say: "And -

furthermore, you won't make any mistakes about it"?
