PART I.B -- INFORMATION NOT LOCATED OR WITHHELD FROM DISCLOSURE We did not locate any agency records responsive to your request. Note: Agencies may treat three discrete categories of law enforcement and national security records as not subject to the FOIA ("exclusions"). See 5 U.S.C. 552(c). This is a standard notification given to all requesters; it should not be taken to mean that any excluded records do, or do not, exist.
We have withheld certain information pursuant to the FOIA exemptions described, and for the reasons stated, in Part II.

This response also serves to acknowledge receipt of your mailed request, dated June 9, 2022, but only received by the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on August 9, 2022.
With respect to the first part of your request, seeking the FOIA logs for the three most recent calendar years, we note that we processed a similar request from you (NRC-2019-000272). In that request, you had requested FOIA logs for fiscal (rather than calendar) years 2018 and 2019, which we provided you. As such, you already have logs covering the first nine months of 2019. Nonetheless, and in an effort to provide you with a prompt response to your request, we have treated the FOIA logs, which are presented on a fiscal year basis and are publicly available on the NRC's website, at https://
www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/foia/closed-request.html, as the records responsive to this part of your request.
With respect to the second part of your request, seeking a listing of closed investigation matters, we are unable to determine which records you are requesting. In that same earlier request we referred to above (NRC-2019-000272), you had requested a listing of investigations closed by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) in 2016-2018. Unlike that earlier request, you have neither specified the program office (i.e., OIG or the Office of Investigations) whose investigations you are interested in, nor the time frame of when the investigations were closed. Accordingly, we have not considered this part of your request to be a "reasonable description of records" that we can process at this time. Should you wish to pursue this matter, please submit a new FOIA request, making clear which program office's investigations you are interested in, and the time frame in which the investigations were closed.
