Dear Director:

Orano TLI hereby submits change pages to Revision 13 to the Versa-Pac Safety Analysis Report (SAR), Docket No. 71-9342. The new change pages in the SAR are marked July 2022 in the header and a summary of all changes is provided in Attachment 1 to this letter. No pages containing proprietary information have been changed, so this entire submittal is public.

These change pages are a result of comments provided by NRC inspectors during the inspection documented in Report No. 71-0947/2022-201. It was identified during this inspection that there were discrepancies between the maximum permissible temperatures for the containment gasket throughout Chapter 3 of the SAR and the maximum values listed in procurement documentation.

To match procurement documentation for the gasket material, the maximum permissible HAC temperature for the containment gasket is changed to 500°F throughout Chapter 3. The results of the HAC thermal evaluation in the SAR show that the gaskets temperature does not exceed this maximum permissible HAC temperature, so no technical changes or justification are required for this editorial correction.

In addition, to align with Note 5 of the VP-55 licensing drawing, a clarification is made to Step h in Section 7.1.1 of the SAR stating that the threaded inserts (Part FE) are optional when Part BB-2 is used. This change has been made to remove any user confusion as to the necessity of the threaded inserts when inspecting the package prior to loading.

Thank you for your attention to this license application for the Versa-Pac. This report is being submitted in accordance with 10CFR71.1, Communications and records. The enclosures of this report are being submitted through the EIE system.

Please address any questions or comments to the undersigned.
