Dear Dir. Ferkile:
Enclosed is an application dated May 23, 2022, received by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission from Louisiana Energy Services, LLC, for the export of 100,000 kilograms (kgs) of uranium hexafluoride (UF6) and 67,615 kgs of uranium containing up to 270 kgs U-235. The material will be exported to Urenco Chemplants, United Kingdom (UK) for chemical conversion to uranium oxide (U3O8). The U3O8 will then be returned to the U.S. and disposed of in the Department of Energys Federal Waste Facility located at Waste Control Specialists in Andrews, TX.
Assurances from Canada and the UK that the material will be subject to all terms and conditions of an agreement for cooperation are required. Your assistance in obtaining the necessary assurances will be appreciated.
Please note the material may have Australian and Canadian obligations.
