DAVIS-BESSE NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNIT NO. 1 - TRANSMITTAL OF FINAL ACCIDENT SEQUENCE PRECURSOR REPORT FOR LICENSEE EVENT REPORT NO. 2021-003-00

Dear Mr. Brown:

By letter dated September 7, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML21250A131), Energy Harbor Nuclear Corp. submitted licensee event report (LER) No. 2021-003-00, Reactor Trip Due to Failed Uninterruptible Power Supply and Steam Feedwater Rupture Control System Actuations, for Davis-Besse Nuclear Station, Unit No. 1, in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations section 50.73. As part of the Accident Sequence Precursor Program, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff reviewed the event to identify potential precursors and to determine the probability of the event leading to a core damage state. The results of the analysis are provided in the enclosure to this letter.

The mean conditional core damage probability for this event was calculated to be 3x10-6. In accordance with Regulatory Issue Summary 2006-24, Revised Review and Transmittal Process for Accident Sequence Precursor Analyses (ML060900007), the NRC staff is not requesting formal review comments because the analysis resulted in a conditional core damage probability of less than 10-4.
