RE: RE: RE: ABSNM - Letter from U.S. NRC Good afternoon Greg, As of right now, no outstanding concerns.

We are processing the certificates that you submitted. Once they are publicly available in NRCs official record database, we will be able to update our NRC public website.

Unofficially, the preliminary results of my review of the ABSNM public website and syllabus document indicate that ABSNM still satisfies the board recognition criteria in 10 CFR 35.50. This is still pending management review. You will receive an official letter at the completion of the review.

Thank you for your prompt responses in our review. We very much appreciate working with you.

[External_Sender] RE: RE: ABSNM - Letter from U.S. NRC Greetings Jenny, I have to provide an annual report to the ABSNM Board of Directors in a few months. Are we OK with our NRC status? Any outstanding concerns?

RE: RE: ABSNM - Letter from U.S. NRC Thank you Greg. The syllabus was very helpful.

For an effective date for both certificates, may I use January 1, 2010 on the NRC website?

Thanks, Jenny From: absnm.mgr@gmail.com <absnm.mgr@gmail.com>

[External_Sender] RE: ABSNM - Letter from U.S. NRC

ML22129A184 Greetings Jenny, In response to your questions:

1) It is fully understood that the Molecular Imaging and Radiopharmaceutical Science specialties are not recognized by the NRC. I have the documents from 2005 where this was communicated to the ABSNM by the NRC. We would notify applicants of this status, but no one has taken either of those in well over a decade.
2) To the best of my knowledge (and records), the certificate was changed in 2010 while the ABSNM was being managed by the Society of Nuclear Medicine.
3) We provide a syllabus that can be ordered on the website and is included with the application fee. I am attaching a copy for your review. The syllabus is available to anyone who places an order. It is not free. We do not provide sample questions although they are frequently requested.

RE: ABSNM - Letter from U.S. NRC Hi Greg, Thank you for submitting this information to the NRC.

1) In your letter, you provided 4 specialty areas. According to our references, only Radiation Protection and Nuclear Medicine Physics and Instrumentation are NRC-recognized. Neither Molecular Imaging or Radiopharmaceutical Science have NRC-recognition. Is that consistent with ABSNMs understanding?
2) What are the effective dates for the ABSNM Radiation Protection certificate and the ABSNM Nuclear Medicine Physics and Instrumentation certificate? As in, when was the

ML22129A184 last time the old certificates were issued and when was the first time these new certificates were issued?

We keep old certificates on the NRC website with the effective date ranges to ensure that past certificates are recognized as valid.

3) Using the ABSNM website, I am comparing the boards eligibility requirements against the NRC regulations. I have mostly found what I need, but I have not found any information regarding the content of the examination. For other boards, I have been able to review study guides that are publicly available. Do you have any references that I could review?
