Emergency Plan Change On December 21, 2021, V.C. Summer transitioned from offsite sirens to U.S. FEMAs Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS)
The FEMA-approved backup method is route alerting V.C. Summer is allowed to make certain changes to their emergency response plan without prior NRC approval per 10 CFR 50.54(q)

Emergency Plan Change The local counties emergency management organizations are responsible for coordinating the alert and notification of the populations in their counties, using South Carolina Emergency Management Division to activate Wireless Emergency Alerts.
