Dear Mr. Bittner:
This letter refers to the Material Control and Accounting (MC&A) inspection conducted on February 28-March 3 and March 14, 2022, at your BWXT Nuclear Operations Group, Inc.
facility (Inspection Report No 07000027/2022402 enclosed). The enclosed report presents the results of this inspection.
This inspection examined activities conducted under your license as they relate to public health and safety, the common defense and security, and to confirm compliance with the Commission's rules and regulations and with the conditions of your license. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selected examination of procedures and representative records, observations of activities, and interviews with personnel.
Based on the results of this inspection, the NRC has determined that two Severity Level IV violations of NRC requirements occurred. Because BWXT Nuclear Operations Group identified the issues, restored compliance, entered them into the corrective action program, and the issues were not repetitive or willful, these violations are being treated as Non-Cited Violations (NCVs), consistent with Section 2.3.2 of the Enforcement Policy. These NCVs are described in the subject inspection report. If you contest the violation(s) or significance of these NCVs, you should provide a response within 30 days of the date of this inspection report, with the basis for your denial, to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, ATTN: Document Control Desk, Washington DC 20555-0001, with copies to: (1) the Regional Administrator, Region II; (2) the Director, Office of Enforcement, United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, DC 20555-0001; and (3) the resident inspector at the facility.
This letter will be made available for public inspection and copying at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html and at the NRC Public Document Room in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations 2.390, Public Inspections, Exemptions, Requests for Withholding.
