In this role, he is responsible for multiple areas related to risk-informed decision-making applications, development of research and guidance probabilistic risk assessment modeling, and wider EPRI efforts on climate change and plant resilience.
Prior to joining EPRI, Dr. Ferrante held positions associated with risk assessment for large commercial nuclear reactors at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (U.S. NRC) and for Department of Energy (DOE) facilities at the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB). He also he performed research and licensing activities at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) related to a potential high-level nuclear waste repository.
Dr. Ferrante is a member of the Joint Committee on Nuclear Risk Management and has supported international efforts in risk assessment via collaborations with EPRI members as well as the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Nuclear Energy Agency.
Dr. Ferrante received a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from University College in London, UK, a MS degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
