Dear Dir. Ferkile:

Enclosed is an application dated March 11, 2022, received by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, from Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC, requesting amendment No.6 to its existing license, XSNM3006/05. The license presently authorizes the export of up to 17,397 kilograms (kg) U-235, contained in 380,716 kg uranium, enriched to 5.0 weight percent maximum, in the form of complete fuel assemblies, to the Republic of Slovenia for use as fuel in the KRSKO Nuclear Power Reactor.

The purpose of the amendment is to: 1) increase the quantity authorized for export by 14,874 kg U-235 contained in 318,361 kg uranium, to a new cumulative total of 32,271 kg U-235 contained in 699,077 kg uranium; 2) extend the expiration date from December 31, 2023, to May 31, 2042; and 3) add LES obligations in addition to the Canadian, Australian, and EURATOM obligations on the current license.

Before taking action on this application, we request your assistance in obtaining the necessary assurances from EURATOM that the material will be subject to all of the terms and conditions of the agreement for cooperation. Please note that the application proposes to export material with obligations from Australia, Canada, EURATOM, and LES.

Additionally, the dollar amount on page one of the NRC Form 7 is proprietary information. The NRC will not include this information in the public record and requests that the Executive Branch agencies protect it as well.
