UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 December 16, 2021 Alison Hahn Acting Director Nuclear Reactor Deployment Department of Energy

Dear Alison Hahn:

It is our sincere pleasure to invite you to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) 34th Regulatory Information Conference (RIC). This years RIC is scheduled for March 8-10, 2022. It will be a hybrid event, with in-person attendees participating at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center and virtual attendees participating remotely by accessing the RIC conference platform.

The RIC, sponsored by the NRC Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation and the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research, offers an open environment in which diverse groups of stakeholders may learn, share, and discuss information on significant and timely nuclear regulatory activities and emergent issues. The RIC is the largest public meeting the agency hosts, historically bringing together over 3,000 participants from more than 30 countries and representing interested stakeholders from other government agencies, industry, international organizations, and the public. Last year, the RIC took place virtually, which gave the NRC an opportunity to reach a larger audience. This year, with the RIC as a hybrid event, we anticipate reaching an even larger audience.

The technical program offers many dynamic sessions and digital exhibits that tie back to this years theme, Preparing for Tomorrow. To complement the program, we invite you to participate as a speaker for our technical session entitled, Non-power and Advanced Reactors:

Merging of Two Worlds, and welcome you to present your perspective on the topic to RIC attendees. We believe your remarks will help stimulate in-depth discussions that are both informative and engaging.

We hope you are available and accept this invitation. The NRC prefers that speakers present in-person, but remote participation can be accommodated if needed. To confirm your participation, we request that you complete and sign the enclosed NRC Forms 1105 and 1106, save the documents, and attach them to a confirmation e-mail to Molly-Kate.Gavello@nrc.gov.

If you are not available to participate, please notify Molly-Kate Gavello, Session Coordinator, at your earliest opportunity. She can be reached at Molly-Kate.Gavello@nrc.gov and (301) 415-0293.

Lastly, the staff has updated the RIC 2022 Web site with current information related to the RIC which can be found at https://www.nrc.gov/public-involve/conference-symposia/ric/index.html.

We appreciate your consideration of our request and look forward to hearing back from you soon!

Sincerely,

/RA/

Robert Taylor Session Chair and Deputy Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation
