March 21, 2022 Dr. David M. Slaughter, President and Reactor Administrator Aerotest Operations, Inc.

3455 Fostoria Way San Ramon, CA 94583

SUBJECT:

AEROTEST OPERATIONS, INC. - CHANGE IN NRC STAFF PROJECT MANAGEMENT FOR THE AEROTEST RADIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH REACTOR

Dear Dr. Slaughter:

On March 27, 2022, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff project management for your facility will transfer from the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, Division of Advanced Reactors and Non-Power Production and Utilization Facilities, to the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS), Division of Decommissioning, Uranium Recovery, and Waste Programs (DUWP), because your facilitys licensing and safety basis now reflects a permanently shutdown and defueled condition, and your facility has commenced decommissioning status. This change in regulatory oversight will enhance NRC processing of any decommissioning-related licensing actions that you may elect to submit, and it will secure NMSS experience and expertise in the evaluation of any future dismantlement, decontamination, spent fuel storage, and license termination activities.

Mr. Jack Parrott, NMSS/DUWP, has been assigned as your new Project Manager and will relieve me of my duties effective March 27, 2022. He can be reached at (301) 415-6634 or by e-mail to Jack.Parrott@nrc.gov. If you have any questions or comments regarding this change in project management oversight, please contact Mr. Parrott, or contact me at (301) 415-4067 or by e-mail to Edward.Helvenston@nrc.gov.

Sincerely, Signed by Helvenston, Edward on 03/21/22 Edward Helvenston, Project Manager Non-Power Production and Utilization Facility Licensing Branch Division of Advanced Reactors and Non-Power Production and Utilization Facilities Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Docket No. 50-228 License No. R-98 cc: See next page
