Subject:

Request for Project Number Related to the Tennessee Valley Authority New Nuclear Program at the Clinch River Nuclear Site Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has initiated a New Nuclear Program to provide a programmatic approach to exploring advanced nuclear technology as a component of its decarbonization goal. As part of the Program, TVA will develop a Nuclear Regulatory Commission construction permit (CP) application for a light-water small modular reactor at TVAs Clinch River Nuclear (CRN) site near Oak Ridge, TN. As the prospective applicant for the CP, TVA intends to begin regulatory engagement on the CP application by April 2022.

The purpose of this letter is to request an assigned project number for all documents related to the CRN construction permit pre-application review. This would include records that involve correspondence with TVA on construction permit pre-application review, internal interoffice memoranda related to the conduct of the review, and any outside organizations or individuals providing formal communications on any aspect of the review.

Please address any questions regarding this request to Ray Schiele at 423-751-8628.

Respectfully, J. W. Shea Vice President, Nuclear Technology Innovation cc: See Page 2
