DEPARTME NT OF ENERGY NATIONAL NUCLEAR SECURITY ADMINISTRATION 1000 INDEPENDENCE AVENUE SW WASHINGTON DC 20585*1000 NR:RR:NSPlate G#22-00011 January 19, 2022 John W. Lubinski Director, Office of Nuclear Materials Safety and Safeguards Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORTS FOR PACKAGING - SCHEDULE OF ANTICIPATED REQUESTS FOR NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION REVIEW AND CONCURRENCE; FORWARDING OF A Safety Analysis Report for Packaging (SARP) is required by the Department of Energy for each container used in the Naval Reactors Program for shipment of unirradiated fuel, spent fuel, irradiated reactor components, and reactor compartments.

These SARPs demonstrate that the shipping containers meet the requirements of Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 71 (1 0CFR71) for safe shipment of fissile and highly radioactive material. In addition to the Naval Reactors' internal review process, it is standard Program practice to request the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to review and concur with the SARPs.

The tables below, provided to the NRC for review, list Naval Reactors SARPs for which NRC review and concurrence will be requested. The dates shown are the dates by which NRC concurrence is needed to support package preparation and shipment schedules. Planned renewals of existing Certificates of Compliance are not included in this list. A summary of past and future SARP submittals is also provided.
