Audit Report AUDIT OF NRCS OVERSIGHT OF SUPPLEMENTAL INSPECTION CORRECTIVE ACTIONS OIG-19-A-19 Status of Recommendations Recommendation 2: Implement an efficient means for inspectors to readily identify and retrieve information about completed and planned corrective actions associated with 95001 and 95002 supplemental inspections.

Agency Response Dated January 24, 2022:

The staff agreed with the recommendation and proposed improvements to the governance and Reactor Program Systems (RPS or ISTAR) software needed to support an efficient means for inspectors to readily identify and retrieve information about completed and planned corrective actions associated with 95001 and 95002 supplemental inspections.

As documented in OIG memo dated April 13, 2021, the OIGs analysis stated that NRRs proposed actions met the intent of the recommendation and that the recommendation would be closed after the improvements were demonstrated.

Subsequently, the staff completed the improvements and examples of their implementation were captured in the recently completed supplemental inspections at FitzPatrick and Grand Gulf nuclear plants. Links to the planned corrective actions documented from the two recently completed inspection reports and the governing document (Inspection Manual Chapter 0611 Appendix C) were forwarded to OIG staff for evaluation on December 6, 2021 On December 14, 2021, the OIG staff confirmed that the information was sufficient to close recommendation 2.

OIG Analysis: The OIG reviewed the RPS/ISTAR tracking of planned corrective actions associated with supplemental inspections at FitzPatrick and Grand Gulf nuclear power plants, as well as corresponding changes to Inspection Manual Chapter 0611, Appendix C. The OIG determined that these data system and procedural changes meet the intent of the recommendation. This recommendation is now closed.

Status: Closed.
