UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 Mr. Anthony M. Reardon National President National Treasury Employees Union 800 K Street, NW, Suite 1000 Washington, DC 20001-8022

Dear Mr. Reardon:

February 7, 2022 Thank you for your recent letter concerning the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) workplace posture. The NRC's top priority is ensuring the health and safety of its workforce while carrying out its vital mission. I am committed to carrying out that mission consistent with best public-health practices. Our buildings are in compliance with Federal requirements to maximize worker safety.

Our return to the physical workplace in November 2021, for a minimum of four days per pay period, was implemented after detailed planning and communication, and in consultation with key agencies, such as the Office of Management and Budget. Our Workplace Safety and Implementation Plan (WSIP) adheres to the latest guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force (SFWTF). The NRC continuously consults with key agencies and updates our WSIP as necessary to ensure it is up to date as the pandemic and guidance evolve. The NRC notified the National Treasury Employees Union of its intention for re-entry and had several discussions over the return. The NRC will continue discussions with the union.

The NRC has been proactive in responding to changing circumstances. I hope that the agency's recent decision, in response to the omicron variant, to allow employees maximum flexibilities to telework through February 26, 2022, reassured your members. These changes are a testament to the NRC's active engagement, and you can be assured that we will continue to monitor conditions and make adjustments to ensure our workforce's health and safety as we fulfill the NRC's mission.

Please contact Daniel H. Dorman, Executive Director for Operations, at (301) 415-1700, with any further questions or concerns you may have.

Sincerely, Christopher T. Hanson
