Dear Mr. Warden:

Enclosed is an application (XB1359) dated January 12, 2022, received by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, from Leidos, Inc. requesting export of sealed sources containing a total of 9.25 E-7 TBq of cesium-137 (Cs-137) to the Government of Iraq. The sealed sources will be used for isotope identification and radiation surveys in 100 of the GR-135 detectors, which is a handheld radioisotope device used as a docking station for charging and communications with a personal computer.

Before taking action on this request, we would appreciate your views, in accordance with established procedures and from the overall perspective of the Executive Branch, as to whether the requested export meets the applicable criteria in the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended.

Sincerely, 1/20/2022 X Peter J. Habighorst Peter J. Habighorst Signed by: Peter J. Habighorst Peter J. Habighorst, Chief Export Controls and Nonproliferation Branch Office of International Programs
