FINANCIAL ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS SATISFIED, LICENSE NO. 0017-01

Dear Mr. Ayala:

The Radiologic Health Branch (RHB) received GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy Americas, LLC's (GEH) decommissioning funding plan (DFP) on April 27, 2018, and its payment surety bond (PSS) on March 28, 2018, to satisfy its financial assurance requirements.

RHB reviewed the PSB according to RHB's Guide for Decommissioning Payment

  • Surety Bonds, and determined that the amount of the PSB covers the required estimated decommissioning cost of $49,934,000 and conforms to RHB's guidance. By June 2021, GEH must review its DFP to determine if the estimated decommissioning cost needs to be adjusted. If at any time GEH changes the type and/or quantities of radioactive materials it possesses, an assessment must be made to ensure the proper amount of financial assurance is secured.

If you have questions, please contact me at (916) 440-7960 or by email at Kim.Sakata@cdph.ca.gov.

Sincerely,

Kim Sakata Financial Assurance Radiologic Health Branch cc: Scott Murray Facilities Licensing Manager GE Hitachi PO Box 780 Wilmington, NC 28402
