Comments: The deceased shortnose sturgeon was collected outside the Salem Circulating Water Intake Structure during routine trash rack cleaning on 12/02/21, at 10:20am. Positive identification was made by Environmental Consulting Services personnel at 12:05pm. The specimen showed signes of moderate decomposition at the time of collection. The specimen was measured, photographed, and inspected for tags, but none were found. A pelvic fin clip was collected. Upon completion of processing, the specimen was placed on ice and transported off-site to the ECSI main office. The specimen and the fin clip have been preserved and placed in cold storage, awaiting further direction on disposition from NMFS.

Draw wounds, abnormalities, tag locations on diagram and briefly describe below Deep laceration from gill to gill Laceration between pelvic fins Describe any wounds / abnormalities (note tar or oil, gear or debris entanglement, propeller damage, etc.). Please note if no wounds / abnormalities are found. At the time of collection, the specimen was deceased with moderate decomposition. A laceration was observed between the pelvic fins. Deep lacerations and decomposition was noted around the gills on both sides, with the head nearly severed.
