Dear Ms. Ferkile:
Enclosed is an application (XCOM1329/01), accepted by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on November 19, 2021, from Curtiss-Wright Flow Control Service, LLC, d/b/a Scientech. The application requests to amend XCOM1329 to authorize export of minor reactor components for use during refueling outages, primarily to isolate steam generators and seal the reactor cavity, at Koeberg Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2, in South Africa.
The purpose of the amendment is to: 1) expand the scope of components authorized for export;
- 2) increase the value of the equipment to be exported; and 3) extend the date of expiration from December 31, 2022 to December 31, 2031.
Assurances from South Africa that meet at least the criteria from the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, Section 109(b), are required. Your assistance in obtaining the necessary assurances will be appreciated.
Please note that the dollar amount in the application is proprietary information. The NRC will not include this information in the public records and requests that the Executive Branch agencies protect it as well. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact the licensing officer, Barry Miller at Barry.Miller@nrc.gov and cc the licensing assistant, Joanne Savoy at Joanne.Savoy@nrc.gov.
Sincerely, 11/24/2021 X
