OF OCTOBER 13, 2021, PUBLIC MEETING WITH PACIFIC GAS & ELECTRIC TO DISCUSS UPCOMING LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST FOR HUMBOLDT BAY INDEPENDENT SPENT FUEL STORAGE INSTALLATION On October 13, 2021, staff from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, Division of Fuel Management, and the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response held a public meeting with representatives from Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E). The purpose of this meeting was to discuss PG&Es planned license amendment request for the Humboldt Bay Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI),
Docket No. 72-27, License No. SNM-2514.
The NRC issued a notice for the meeting, including the agenda, on September 28, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML21271A446). The attendees list is included in the Enclosure. The meeting notice and presentation slides for the meeting (ADAMS Accession No. ML21281A167) were available on the NRC public meeting website, at https://www.nrc.gov/pmns/mtg?do=details&Code=20211261.
The meeting was conducted remotely as a teleconference and webinar. During the public portion of the meeting, PG&E representatives discussed the proposed changes described in the presentation slides, including changes to both license SNM-2514 as well as the technical specifications of the license. PG&E stated that it planned to submit the application by the end of 2021.

Y. Diaz-Sanabria 2 Members of the public asked questions regarding how the site could respond in the event of a damaged canister (the site would maintain the capability to handle a damaged canister by, for example, using a transport or transfer cask) and about past audits of the facilitys quality assurance program (NRC would conduct such an audit every two years, and the audit reports are available on the NRC web site).
