SUMMARY
OF AUGUST 12, 2021, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE NATRIUM PLANT DESIGN OVERVIEW On August 12, 2021, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held an observation public meeting with TerraPower, LLC (TerraPower) to discuss their Natrium Plant Design Overview. The staff posted the meeting notice in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML21217A036. The presentation slides can be found at ADAMS Accession No. ML21215A561. The enclosure to this document lists the meeting attendees who participated.
During the open portion of the public meeting the NRC staff provided an introduction and logistical information pertaining to the meeting. The staff explained that the meeting was an observation meeting and that TerraPower representatives would provide the NRC staff with an overview of the Natrium plant design. Staff also explained that a portion of the meeting would be closed to the public. During the public portion of the meeting TerraPower provided an overview of the plant design and operation, including the Nuclear Island and the Energy Island.
The overview presentation described features and related research and development activities on the Natrium design.
During the closed meeting, TerraPower representatives and NRC staff discussed plant design and operation, including the Nuclear Island and the Energy Island, Natrium Safety Strategy, Plant Layout, and next steps for future interactions.
