X ENERGY, LLC - ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF WITHDRAWAL OF THE TOPICAL REPORT, XE-100 TOPICAL REPORT MECHANISTIC SOURCE TERM APPROACH XSTERM CODE VERIFICATION AND VALIDATION (EPID NO. L-2021-TOP-0010)
Dear Mr. Chapman:
By letter dated April 30, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML21120A342), X Energy, LLC (X-energy) submitted topical report, Xe-100 Topical Report Mechanistic Source Term Approach and XSTERM Code Verification and Validation, for review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff. The topical report provided the approach taken by X-energy to develop event sequence-specific mechanistic source terms for the Xe-100 reactor.
By letter dated August 31, 2021 (ADAMS Accession No. ML21243A229), you requested to withdraw the topical report after further review and discussion with NRC staff during initial feedback provided in meetings held on June 3, 2021 and July 27, 2021. Accordingly, the NRC staff ceased review of the subject topical report and closed the associated Cost Activity Code number on September 1, 2021.
Prior to your request to withdraw the application, the NRC staff performed an initial screening of the report. The enclosure to this letter provides the NRC staffs feedback for X-energy to consider. Should you decide to re-submit the topical report, please consider addressing in the report the initial feedback provided by the NRC staff.
The Enclosure to this letter contains Proprietary information. When separated from the Enclosure, this document is DECONTROLLED.
