Yes we were aware that the base map was incorrect and that your contractor used a different version of AERMOD in Breeze as documented in WVDP-607. Because Lakes Environmental AERMOD was listed in the validation study modeling files, NRC procured Lakes Environmental software last year to assist NRC with review of the modeling files. Because these are just informal clarifying questions to help us understand the modeling/results and we are requesting additional modeling files before we complete our review, we did not attempt to run an earlier version of AERMOD for direct comparison to your results. We are okay with informal responses and even just a phone call discussionwhatever is easiest for you guys. I think we plan to follow-up with a more formal response with specific follow-up action items after we have a better understanding of the modeling approach and some of the risk drivers.
We had already fixed the figure and even produced some additional figures after the clarifying questions were sent. We did add one additional clarifying question to help us understand risk drivers to focus our monitoring responsibilities in the future.

Thank you for the discussion on Monday and for list of items for which you are seeking more information or clarification. Our subject matter experts are starting to pull the information together, but we are hoping to get clarification on item #10. It appears from the figure titled Table 1 that the AERMOD runs may have been done using a location other than the WVDP (the base map in the background is showing an area in Massachusetts). We are hoping you could have someone look at this just to make sure that the correct data inputs were provided, before we start tackling the details of that particular item. Also, please note that the WVDP utilized Breeze v. 19191 as opposed to Lakes Environmental v. 10.0.1.

Hi Moira and Elizabeth, Thanks for a great discussion yesterday regarding the AERMOD and other modeling data provided to the NRC in support of the upcoming Main Plant Process Building (MPPB) demolition activities. As discussed during the call, please find attached a set of clarification questions from the NRC staff in support of our assemblage of an overall demolition readiness letter for the MPPB.
If you and your staff could review and respond to these questions it will help us button up the remaining open items related to the MPPB readiness review, as well as ensure there is a good understanding between DOE and the NRC related to information that may need to be reviewed onsite during a future WVDP monitoring visit. If you would like to set up any additional discussions on the attached, please just let me/Pam/Cynthia know and we will be happy to support!
In addition, please note that once the requested supplemental information is provided (WVDP-EIS-014 and other documents providing the scaling factors, and/or a set of AERMOD modeling files with the deposition algorithm employed) there may be some additional questions form the staff, which we can discuss and forward along as needed. Please let me know if you have questions or need anything additional in the meantime, and thank you for your support as always!
