NRC'sReport onCompliance with theSocial SecurityNumberFraud Prevention Actof2017 Updateon Plan for Compliance TheU.S.Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) hascomplied withtherequirement fromthe Social Security Number Fraud PreventionAct of2017that within 5 years agencies issue designedto protect andlimit regulations theuseofsocial security numbers (SSNs). InAugust theNRCamended its regulations tospecify 2020, whenincluding anindividual complete SSNis necessary, maximize theuse ofpartially redacted SSNswhere feasible, require that SSNsnot bevisible onthe outside ofany package sent bymail toorfrom theNRC,anddirect that documents sent bymail includethe SSN ofanindividual onlywhentheheadofthe agency determines that including theSSN is necessary.

Thesection below liststhedocumentssent bymail thattheNRCused during thepast yearand that includedanindividual's complete SSN, which wasnot visible onthe ofany outside package.
