No: 21-018 May 3, 2021 CONTACT: Office of Public Affairs, 301-415-8200 NRC Statement on the Death of Former Commissioner Peter Lyons The Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued the following statement on behalf of the NRC Commission and staff, regarding the passing of former NRC Commissioner Peter Lyons.
For decades, Pete distinguished himself as an influential thought leader in nuclear science and energy policy, first at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and later at the NRC and Department of Energy. He was a mentor, a friend, and a role model for public service, said NRC Chairman Christopher T.
Hanson. We are deeply saddened over the loss of this great man.
