U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION RESPONSE TO BWXT NUCLEAR OPERATIONS GROUP - LYNCHBURG, INC. 2021 U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION-OBSERVED FORCE-ON-FORCE EXERCISE

Dear Mr. Freudenberger:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has received your letter, BWXT Nuclear Operations Group- Lynchburg, Inc. 2021 NRC Observed Force-on-Force Exercise (21-018),

dated March 23, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) accession number ML21091A221), in which you have requested that the 2021 NRC triennial force-on-force exercise for BWXT Nuclear Operations Group, Inc.-Lynchburg (BWXT NOG-L) serve as the 2021 annual NRC-observed exercise.

The staff has completed its review of the request and found that it is acceptable in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 73.46(b)(9). The staff agrees that the request does not create a decrease in the safeguards effectiveness or of the facility's physical protection program.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room, or from ADAMS.
