Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility Well Permit Request Richland County, S.C.
Consent Agreement CA-19-02-HW File # 51377
Dear Ms. Kuhn:
Westinghouse Electric Company. Inc. (Westinghouse) Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF),
AECOM Technical Services, Inc. (AECOM), and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control personnel met virtually on Thursday January 14, 2021 to discuss multimedia sampling results collected to date as part of Phase II of the Remedial Investigation (RI). One of the discussion topics during this virtual meeting was RI Phase II groundwater screening data.
The discussions resulted in the parties agreeing to the following actions:
To convert the temporary well installed in boring L-43 to a permanent monitoring well (to be designated W-102),
The locations of 10 additional permanent monitoring wells (W-103 through W-112), and The locations of 11 potential additional temporary groundwater screening points (L-48 through L-58).
The locations of the monitoring wells and groundwater screening points are displayed in the attached Figure 1. Temporary wells previously approved on December 3, 2020 under permit MW-12628 will be used for seven of the groundwater screening points. In summation, CFFF and AECOM request well permits for 10 permanent wells and 15 additional temporary wells.
Should you have any questions regarding the information provided in this letter, please do not hesitate to contact me at (803) 740-1604.
