OF MAY 27, 2021, WEBINAR TO EXCHANGE INFORMATION PERTAINING TO RISK INSIGHTS OBTAINED FROM REVIEWS OF THE DERECHO THAT IMPACTED THE DUANE ARNOLD ENERGY CENTER (DAEC) ON AUGUST 10, 2020 (EPID L-2021-PPM-0015)
On May 27, 2021, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting via Microsoft Teams to exchange information pertaining to risk insights obtained from reviews of the derecho that impacted the Duane Arnold Energy Center (DAEC) on August 10, 2020.
Representatives from NextEra Energy provided an overview of the DAEC facility and a summary of the event (Agencywide Documents and Access Management System (ADAMS)
Accession No. ML21146A183). The NRC provided information regarding its LIC-504, Integrated Risk-Informed Decisionmaking for Emergent Issues, review of this event. The NRC presentation included a discussion of the its Accident Sequence Precursor Analysis and its LIC-504 analysis risk insights (ADAMS Accession No. ML21145A166).
Representatives from the Pressurized Water Reactor Owners Group and the Boiling Water Reactor Owners Group provided lessons learned from the event (ADAMS Accession No. ML21146A047). A panel of NRC and industry representatives discussed several aspects of the risk insights to provide clarification and additional information regarding the risk insights obtained from the event.
Members of the public were in attendance. Public Meeting Feedback forms were not received.
