Re-calculation of maximum potential enrichment at the Cimarron site Date:
Thursday, July 05, 2018 1:51:17 PM On April 18, 2018, Cimarron submitted a technical memorandum on the re-calculation of the maximum potential enrichment at the Cimarron site. This tech memo updated a 2015 tech memo, determining the maximum enrichment based on isotopic mass concentration instead of the previously calculated enrichment based on isotopic activity concentration. The tech memo concluded that because the previously calculated maximum enrichment value (which was used to demonstrate that criticality is not credible) was higher than the maximum enrichment calculated based on isotopic mass concentration, the previous criticality determination should still be considered to be bounding, and no additional nuclear criticality determination is needed.
NRC staff reviewed this submittal and has no objection to this approach.
