Dear Mr. Warden:
Enclosed is an application (XB1356), dated March 3, 2021, from Eckert & Ziegler Isotope Products received by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The application requests the export of two sealed sources each containing 0.000444 terabecquerels (TBq) of europium-152 (Eu-152), for a total activity of 0.000888 TBq of Eu-152, to Pakistan. The sealed sources will be used for research purposes at the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Science, measuring the density of low-level waste drums and calibrating the waste assay monitor (Model WAM-300).
Before taking action on this request, we would appreciate your views, in accordance with established procedures and from the overall perspective of the Executive Branch, as to whether the requested export meets the applicable criteria in the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended.
