OF FEBRUARY 25, 2021, PUBLIC MEETING WITH INDUSTRY TO DEMONSTRATE THE ONLINE WEB-BASED RELIEF REQUEST PORTAL FOR 10 CFR 50.55(z)(1) AND (z)(2)
ALTERNATIVE REQUESTS On February 25, 2021, a virtual Category 2 public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and industry representatives to demonstrate the online Web-Based Relief Request (WRR) portal for alternative requests under Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 50.55a(z)(1) and (z)(2). The meeting notice and agenda, dated February 12, 2021, are available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML21050A383. A partial list of attendees is enclosed.
(Note that not all attendees may be included in the list.)
The NRC prepared a presentation for the public meeting (ADAMS Accession No. ML21056A432) and provided a demonstration to illustrate to licensees how and where to locate the WRR portal, how licensees are to obtain credentials to access the portal, how to login, how to designate an administrator, and how to enter information and submit alternative requests. Throughout the presentation, the NRC staff addressed the questions the industry representatives asked about the WRR portal. These questions and answers were added to the NRCs frequently asked questions document located at ADAMS Accession No. ML21078A152.
Operating reactor licensees have the option to use the WRR portal to request relief, in the form of alternatives, from certain NRC regulatory requirements in 10 CFR 50.55a, Codes and standards.
The WRR portal is limited to requests to use alternatives submitted under 10 CFR 50.55a(z)(1) and (z)(2).
Members of the public were in attendance. No public meeting feedback forms were received.
