Jan. 14, 2021 Weve issued a fine of $8,500 to a Puerto Rico firm for failing to dispose of, or transfer, portable nuclear gauges it possesses under an NRC license and also for failing to complete the decommissioning process within the required time period: https://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/news/2021/21-001-i.pdf.

Jan. 27, 2021 NRC Region I Office staff had to get creative when the pandemic made it challenging to tour the buildings Incident Response Center to assess technology needs there. Staffer Colleen Picciotto got an assist from colleague Mark Marziale thanks to creative use of a laptop computer.

March 12, 2021 The safety performance of the #Millstone #nuclear power plant will be the subject of a virtual public meeting between #NRC staff and the Connecticut Nuclear Energy Advisory Council on March 18. 3/16/21 Materials inspections out of our Region I office were #OntheJob recently at a license-holders facility in Glastonbury, Conn., using radiation-measuring devices, including a Geiger counter, to conduct a periodic inspection on portable #nuclear gauges.

March 29. 2021 As we responded to the public health emergency and transitioned to working remotely about a year ago, we began our #OntheJob initiative. We wanted to demonstrated that we could continue to carry out our mission. As the health emergency continues, so does the initiative.

March 31, 2021 Rebecca Barr, a purchasing agent in our Region I Office, fills a box with personal protective equipment being sent to resident inspectors assigned to a nuclear power plant in the Northeastern U.S. Shes a key link in keeping our inspectors safe and #OntheJob amid the pandemic.

March 31, 2021 After 37 years at the agency, Region I Operator Licensing Chief Examiner Dave Silk is retiring.

He was #OntheJob recently at the Beaver Valley #nuclear power plant administering his final operator licensing exams and assuring candidates were qualified to stand at the controls.
