OF FEBRUARY 16, 2021, MEETING WITH DAHER-TLI TO DISCUSS AN UPCOMING PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE VERSA-PAC TRANSPORTATION PACKAGE Purpose Daher-TLI (Daher) requested a pre-application meeting to provide to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff an overview of two upcoming amendments to the Model No. Versa-Pac transportation package.
Background
On February 16, 2021, an open meeting was held virtually, at the request of Daher with the NRC staff to discuss Dahers upcoming amendments to the Versa-Pac transportation package.

The meeting was noticed on February 4, 2021 (see Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML21035A124). The meeting attendance list is provided as an Enclosure, the presentation slides are located in ADAMS at Accession No. ML21088A393.

C. Regan 2 Discussion Daher-TLI is planning to submit an amendment request for the Versa-Pac package Certificate of Compliance No. 9342 which include but are not limited to expanding the approved contents of the package to include a larger amount of TRISO fuel materials and to allow for the transportation of TRISO fuel compacts for the Versa-Pac. Additional details about the amendment can be found in the publicly available meeting slides at Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML21088A393.
NRC staff had various clarification questions regarding the criticality analysis of the amendment to which Daher-TLI supplied answers. Daher-TLI also provided a high-level schedule of their upcoming submittals which include submittal of an amendment to include a dual pipe high-capacity basket for UO in Fall 2021 and a prospective submittal date of the 2022 for the VP-55XL (see meeting slides from September 2019 pre application meeting for details at ADAMS accession ML19294A279).
The amendment was submitted shortly after the meeting and the staffs review has begun.
